Building Surveyor

Kingston Morehen have an exciting career opportunity for a talented and experienced surveyor to join our growing team. Applications are invited from Building Surveyors, General Practice Surveyors/Valuers, or those with skills across a broad range of work. A degree of flexibility is offered with regard to candidates' experience, working hours, and full or part time will be considered.

Person Criteria:

  • 5 years’ surveying experience
  • Degree qualified, or equivalent
  • Residential surveys and defect analysis
  • Building contract administration, from inception to completion
  • A track record of first-class communication and relationship-building skills in dealing with people at all levels
  • High quality and clear report writing ability
  • Take the lead in instructions from receipt of initial enquiry through to completion
  • Proven ability of efficient working-processes
  • Adaptability and flexibility to cater for the diverse client base and work types
  • Self-motivated
  • A team-player
  • Good IT skills

Apprentice Valuation Surveyor

Due to a consistently busy workload with Valuations, we have an opportunity for an apprentice Valuation Surveyor to work alongside one of our Directors and gain valuable qualifications and experience.

Depending on the aptitude and ambitions of the candidate, the Apprentice position could either be at Level 3 – Technician or Level 6 – Chartered Surveyor. The Apprentice would normally undertake academic study via the University College of Estate Management one day per week and work from the office for four days per week. Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship, the candidate would have the chance to progress to being an Associate or professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (AssocRICS or MRICS).

The study fees would be paid by Kingston Morehen and the Apprentice would receive a salary in excess of the national minimum, as well as paid holiday.

The role involves visiting, inspecting and measuring properties, undertaking research and assisting in the production of professional valuation reports for a variety of purposes, including purchase, legal proceedings, taxation, development, leasehold matters and Charities Act requirements, as well as reinstatement cost assessments for insurance purposes.

No previous experience is necessary, but good Maths and English skills are essential, together with a methodical and diligent approach to work, being presentable, able to communicate well with a variety of people, and a willingness to learn.
